MEMPHIS, TN (localmemphis.com) - Save money. Live better. That's one Walmart slogan.

The three alleged shopliftersat the Walmart on Highway 64 were certainly saving money. But living better…not so much after they tried to run down a Bartlett cop after reportedly swiping tools and car parts.

“The vehicle was coming towards the officer,” Marlon Jones of the Bartlett Police said. “The officer fired a couple of shots. The suspect was struck in the forearm.”

There were three shoplifting suspects in the getaway car. The driver was hit by police bullets.

“He actually jumps back outside the vehicle and runs back inside Walmart,” Jones said.

We were able to locate an eyewitness who was in the store when it was all happening.

“Someone comes running in the store yelling I've been shot...I've been shot,” eyewitness Savannah Bridges said.

He collapsed in front of the customer service counter.

“There was blood everywhere,” Bridges said.

Walmart employees gave him napkins to wrap around his wound, but that was it.

“Employees at Walmart said, “No, we're not allowed to call the cops..the police. Our managers have to do that,” Bridges said.

Eventually the ambulance did arrive for the bad guy and the officer.

“The officer was not shot. He was struck with the vehicle,” Jones said.

As for the other suspects in that car.

The Walmart store was locked down. Customers turned away. Employees sent home.

The officer that was struck by the vehicle in Walmart parking lot was treated and released from the hospital. The suspect that was shot by the officer remains at the Med in stable condition

No names have been released and no word on charges.
