MEMPHIS, TN (localmemphis.com) - The wife of a Memphis SWAT officer was taken into custody Monday morning after an 11-hour standoff with police.

Shelby County Sheriff's deputies were called to a home on Headley Cove around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, on reports of an emotionally-distraught woman armed with a gun.

According to Shelby County Sheriff's spokesperson Chip Washington, "She fired off a shot in the director of one of our officers who trying to enter the dwelling. He returned fire, neither party was hit."

The woman also fired a few shots inside the home, but not at officers. Washington stated she had threatened to commit suicide and "she'll take parties with her if she needs to."

A negotiator was called to the scene, and by 8:40 a.m. Monday, the woman walked outside unarmed. A flash bang was set off to distract her and she was taken into custody without incident.
