Shotgun-Wielding Suspect Shot by Memphis Officer

A Memphis police officer is off the job following his involvement in an early Saturday morning shooting in the Fox Meadows area.
MEMPHIS, TN (localmemphis.com) - A Memphis police officer is off the job following his involvement in an early Saturday morning shooting in the Fox Meadows area.

It happened around 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 15, in the 2900-block of Wedge Cove.

According to MPD, officers found a suspect with a shotgun in the back of a home. He refused to drop the gun and pointed it at police, that's when the officer opened fire.

The suspect ran, but was later found in Southaven. He is currently at The MED in critical condition.

The officer has been relieved of duty with pay pending the outcome of the investigation.
