Thaddeus Matthews Claims He Is In A "Season Of Persecution"

MEMPHIS, TN (localmemphis.com) - Local talk show host Thaddeus Matthews has a lot to talk about these days.

But instead of talking into a microphone he will be talking to a judge.

Monday night Matthews was arrested on stalking and harassment charges. On top of that, he still has an open child pornography case.

Thaddeus Matthews was standing in a familiar spot Tuesday morning. Outside a bonding company after bonding out of jail.

"I'm in my season of persecution and I just have to hang," Matthews said.

He's charged with stalking and harassing Brenda Askew.

"Driving by the house. Threats on Facebook page and Facebook bullying. It's been unreal," complainant Brenda Askew said. "Anytime you put a person's picture, address, pictures of their home. You're invading my privacy.”

"Everything she has in this affidavit is hearsay," Matthews said. "This is a lie and I'll deal with it."

On top of these new harassment and stalking charges, Matthews still has another case to deal with.

Last November, he was charged with sexual exploitation of a minor, especially aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, and exploitation of a minor after posting a picture on his Facebook page that showed a man forcing a child to perform a sex act.

"I understand who I am. I fight for the rights of people in this community. With that task comes persecution," Matthews said.

That case is still pending.

"The only thing I find strange. I have not been indicted on any of those other charges. It's out there,” Matthews said. "I do have to worry that same investigator that went after me on that is the same one on this. He's not in domestic crimes. How did he get this case."
