"It's great for the city. Pulls everybody together. They worked so hard to come together as a team. Proud of the coach. Proud of the players. Proud of everybody," said Memphis Tiger fan Phillip Dees.
Phillip Dees and dozens of others waited anxiously at the Wilson Air Center, for the return of the Tigers.
"I am extremely proud of our Tigers. That was a hard fought win and they found a way to get it done. So proud of the guys," said Memphis Tiger Coach Josh Pastner.
So were the waiting fans.
"Huge Tiger fans! We bleed blue and gray all the way," said Tiger fan Krissy Dees.
Although the Tigers took the title, it was a little rough for D.j. Stephens who attended his grandmothers funeral, then flew back the same day to Tulsa for the big game.
"It's been a very strange three days of playing and just trying to stay focused, but at the end of the day I still had a job to do and I still had to come help my team win games," said D.j. Stephens.
