MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - The body of a woman was found at a house fire in the Lakeland area Monday night.
The Shelby County Fire Department was called to the 9200-block of Curling Pond Lane around 10 p.m. on Monday, January 14 in response to a 911 call about a fire in the back of the house. Fire crews from Arlington and Memphis were also called to the scene to assist.
Crews worked to contain the fire at the back of the house so they could search for anyone still inside; during that search firefighters found the body of a woman near the front of the house. The victim was later identified as 70-year-old Barbara Clark.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
