104-Year-Old Woman Dies In House Fire

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) - ​ The Memphis Fire Department responded to a house fire on Hester Road, Friday morning.  

Upon arrival firefighters reported smoke coming from house.

 The fire was bought under control just after noon.  While searching the home fire fighters found a 104-year-old female; unresponsive in the kitchen area; she was later pronounced dead. 

The name of the victim has not been released pending notification of next of kin.  The cause of death is pending the Shelby County Medical Examiner’s Report.  

The cause of the fire was determined to be an electrical malfunction in the kitchen.
