18-Year-Old Shot & Killed In Southeast Memphis

Mother said son was hit after shots were fired outside her home

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) - Memphis police are investigating after they say an 18-year-old was shot and killed Tuesday night in southeast Memphis.

It happened about 11:30 p.m. in the 4600 block of Chelwood Drive. The victim’s mother told officers she heard several shots outside her home, and her 18-year-old son was struck. He was found in a bedroom, and died at the scene.

Police say they don’t yet know what led to the shooting, and no one is in custody.

This is the 114th homicide of 2017 in the city of Memphis.
