Beloved Midtown Bartender Killed In Motorcycle Crash

MEMPHIS, TN - The Cooper-Young community is grieving and in shock after the sudden death of a popular bartender.

Ivan Ravlija was killed while on his motorcycle Monday night.

It happened after 9:00 p.m. on Walnut Grove Rd. near Tillman St. Police say a second person on the motorcycle was also injured and taken to the hospital in non-critical condition.

From bar to restaurant today in Cooper-Young, we couldn't find a dry eye.

A GoFundMe page set up by close friends this morning to help pay funeral costs has already raised more than $12,000.

A co-worker said Ivan had just left Young Avenue Deli where he was a bartender before the crash.

He's remembered by friends, and there are lots of them, for his quick wit and fun loving attitude.

Ivan moved to Memphis from Croatia in the late 90's and graduated from Ridgeway High School in 2004.

Friends say he was thrilled to be an American.

We were hard pressed to find a soul who could keep their emotions together long enough to speak on camera about Ivan.

Celtic Crossing bartender, Allan Creasy, tried his best.

"He was just a fun guy. He just always had a smile on his face. He was a prankster, he was a jokester,  and, uh, loved. Everyone knew him as just Ivan."
