Blue Sunday Event Held For Law Enforcement Officers, First Responders, And Firefighters

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) - Today the men and women who serve and protect people in Memphis and Shelby County were honored.

Law enforcement officers, first responders, fire fighters and their families prayed and stood together today for Blue Sunday.

This was the second year for the event. It was held at the Greater Imani Church. Organizers say it’s all about uniting the community.

"I want our members to walk away understanding that if we're going to build a better Memphis we have to build it together. It can’t just be something we do in our homes. It has to be something we do in our homes, our churches that overflow into our communities," says Pastor Rhonda Hurst

They plan on doing the event next year and hope the crowd continues to grow.
