Closing Arguments In Jessica Chambers Murder Trial

BATESVILLE, Miss. (localmemphis.com) - Closing arguments have been presented in the Jessica Chambers murder trial.

Quinton Tellis is accused of setting the 19-year-old on fire on a Panola County back road December 6th, 2014.

The jury has the case and are deliberating.Below is a portion of what was said during the closing arguments:

"We also know that for four consecutive days he was asking her for sex. And for four consecutive days she was rejecting him. It's in the text messages," DA John Champion.

“First of all, for months and really since the minute we started working on Quinton's case, we've been thinking what in the world happened on that evening to miss Jessica. And the problem is there was a non-focus on who really did this to her," said Tellis’ Defense Attorney Darla Palmer.

During the defense's closing, one of Tellis' attorneys referred to Jessica Chambers as "Erica Chambers".

The jury began deliberating around 4 p.m.

If convicted, Tellis faces life in prison.
