MADISON COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) - Authorities say 19-year-old Byron McBride has been identified as the gunman who shot and killed 6-year-old Kingston Frazier. According to the Madison County Coroner, Frazier died of multiple gunshot wounds. But he did not say where on his body Kingston was shot.
McBride, Dwan Wakefield, and DeAllen Washington are all charged with murder.
Frazier's body was found shot Thursday in the back of a car when police say the suspects left it abandoned.
Frazier's mother said she left the car running while she ran into a grocery store. The entire community, and family members, are distraught over the case.
"It was an honest mistake,” says cousin Kolby Irby. “Kingston asked her to stay in the car, maybe it was a lapse of judgment, that's not the point right now. What we are saying is this is a six-year-old that's gone."
"You took a child. A six-year-old little boy, and killed him when you could have just left him at Kroger,” says aunt Deanne Moore. “You could have dropped him off on the side of the street. Anywhere, he knew his mother's phone number. He is dead, and you don't know what that feels like."
Kingston Frazier was set to graduate first grade Thursday. The school principal says he was supposed to receive the school's "courage award".
