Court Hearing for 4 Women Charged In Death Of Boy In Daycare Van

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) - Four former daycare workers accused of leaving a child to die in a hot car faced a judge Monday morning. They are charged with manslaughter for the death of Christopher Gardner, Jr.

Our cameras were not allowed inside the courtroom. Several relatives, including the parents of the 5-year-old, were present.

All four women facing charges in the little boy's death appeared before judge Fred Thorne in court Monday morning around 9:30 a.m.

  • Felicia Phillips, the van driver
  • Pamela Robinson, a monitor
  • Wanda Taylor, transportation supervisor
  • Kendra Washington, the designated safety inspector

An attorney representing one of the women says all have bonded out. In court, all except one of the women had an attorney. Pamela Robinson is working to find one.

The court appearance lasted for maybe 10 minutes.

Judge Thorne explained that they will have to appear before a circuit court judge in Marion, Arkansas, July 31st at 8:30 a.m.

After that they were dismissed, quickly leaving the West Memphis district court.

 

No one spoke with reporters.
