Suspects Charged After Woman Rescued From Possible Sex Trafficking RIng In Shelby County

LAKELAND, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) - UPDATE 6/14/2017: Two people are now charged after the Shelby County Sheriff's Office says a 19-year-old was rescued from a possible sex trafficking ring.

The Shelby County Sheriff's Office has charged 22-year-old Darius Hunt with Aggravated Kidnapping, False Imprisonment, and Trafficking for Commercial Sex Act.  

25-year-old Anna Stuckey was also arrested on scene on outstanding warrants for Theft of Property and Violation of Probation in a separate case.

During the search of the motel room, detectives found several items consistent with sex trafficking. The FBI Human Trafficking Task Force also made the scene and assisted.

This is an ongoing investigation.

Shelby County deputies say they busted a sex trafficking operation at a Super 8 Tuesday.

A spokesperson with the Shelby County Sheriff's Office told Local 24 a 19-year-old woman was being held against her will at the motel.

"She managed to make a phone call," said public information officer Earle Farrell. "She made one to her mother and another to 911."

Investigators say the teen was held for three days and forced to have sex in the hotel's parking lot.

Two people, a man, and women are in custody in connection to the case.

The 19-year-old is currently receiving treatment and counseling services.
