Flag Raising Honors 5-Year-Old Who Died In Hot Daycare Van

WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. (localmemphis.com) - The Eastern Arkansas Child Advocacy Center held a flag raising ceremony Friday morning to honor the 5-year-old who died in a hot day care van in West Memphis, Arkansas.

Christopher Gardner, Jr. was left in a van outside Ascent Children's Health Services in West Memphis on June 12th. His body was found more than eight hours after the van arrived at the center for children with special needs.

Investigators say they are recreating the scene to figure out what happened the day Christopher died.

"Actually using a life-size mannequin doll specifically built to Christopher's dimensions to show how it would be nearly impossible if you were paying attention to miss where the child was seated in the van,” says West Memphis Police Captain Joe Baker.

Four former workers have been charged with manslaughter in Christopher's death.
