Former Memphis Tiger Joe Jackson Arrested On Drug Charges

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) - A former Memphis Tiger has been booked into the Shelby County jail at 201 Poplar. Joe Jackson is facing serious charges.

Jackson is charged with felony possession of a firearm, felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to manufacture, deliver or sell. Jackson also faces misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and improper turns. He's also charged with having a gun during a commission of a felony.

Officers were on patrol Wednesday about 6:30 p.m. when they pulled Jackson at Trezevant and Lamar over for a traffic violation. They say they smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle. During a search, they found about 100 various colored pills with no label in a backpack. Police say the pills had symbols of a nude woman, 4 leaf clover, Superman, and dolphins. They believe the pills to be ecstacy.

Officers also found $4,500 cash and a pistol in the backpack, and another pistol under the driver’s seat.

Jackson played for the Memphis Tigers from 2010 to 2014. He currently plays for the Northern Arizona Suns of the NBA development league.

 

No bond has been posted as of Thursday morning.
