Germantown Baptist Church Gives Thanks To First-Responders

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) - Germantown Baptist Church took time Tuesday to give thanks to our local first responders.

Church members and volunteers handed out more than 300 turkeys and treats to Germantown and Collierville first responders. This is the third year the church has shown their appreciation to police officers and firefighters at Thanksgiving.

"When you're in this profession, you're a giver, so it's very humbling to come out and take a gift of appreciation like this,” says GPD Deputy Chief Rodney Bright.

"So many times, especially in the world we live in, our fire department, police department, especially, don't get a lot of pats on the back and Thank Yous, so this is our way of saying thank you to them,” says Germantown Baptist Pastor Larry Vaughan.

Volunteers also handed out treat bags of cookies. They baked nearly 300 dozen.
