Grizzlies Volunteer Time To Renovate Park

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) - The Memphis Grizzlies are gearing up for the start of the regular season, but that isn't stopping them from helping the community.

Grizzlies players, coaches, and employees volunteered their time Thursday afternoon to renovate Chandler Park in South Memphis.

The group restored the basketball courts and planted trees and flowers to create the "Grizzlies Gardens" out of blighted spots in the park.

"I think our guys get as much out of this as the kids do," says Grizzlies head coach David Fizdale. "Our guys really like being in this community, being a part of this community. They understand there's a lot of work that needs to be done, but they want to make sure they're a part of that."

The Grizzlies partnered with the Soulsville Community, who also took part in the project to improve Chandler Park.
