MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) - A gun toting granny in Horn Lake, Mississippi, is warning burglars to beware. This as the Horn Lake Police Department is investigating a recent rash of break-ins.
Detectives believe at least five cases may be connected.
"I have a 30-gauge shotgun. I have a .357 and I have a 9mm. And fixing to go get a .38,” says Robbye Sing.
The 76-year-old has lived in Horn Lake nearly 30 years. She heard a burglar broke into three cars and two homes Sunday in the DeSoto Village neighborhood where she lives.
Sing says this neighborhood has changed over the years, and not in a good way. So she wants to protect herself and her home.
"I've gone to my door with my .357 before,” says Sing. "Anybody who knows me knows that I mean business."
Horn Lake Police say it's best to call them. "Someone stepping on to your yard, that's not enough. That's not gonna be enough for you to just take it into your own hands,” says Lt. Nikki Lanphere.
Sing says she hopes she never has to pull the trigger, but will if her life depends on it.
"I’ve worked for everything I've got. And they're not coming in here and taking anything I've got,” says Sing.
Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,500 reward for information leading to an arrest. The number is 662-429-TIPS.
