Jason Autry Takes Stand In Day 4 Of Holly Bobo Murder Trial

SAVANNAH, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) - Explosive testimony at the Holly Bobo murder trial. Jason Autry took the stand, detailing what happened during the last moments of Bobo's life. Along with Zach Adams, who is on trial, Autry is charged in the death of the 20-year-old nursing student from Decatur County.

Autry told jurors he was there when Bobo was shot. "He asked me... will I help bury the body... I said yes,” he testified. Autry says he didn't rape, kidnap or kill Bobo but admitted he was involved.

Autry showed the jury where he and Zach Adams took Bobo's body. Autry says he had gone to meet Adams to get drugs, and that’s when Adams asked him to help bury Bobo's body, which Autry says was lying in the back of Adams’ pickup truck. Autry said Adams, his brother Dillon Adams, and his first cousin Shayne Austin were there.

After doing a meth and morphine drug cocktail, Autry says he and Zach Adams left to go bury the body, but realized they didn't have a shovel, so Autry suggested gutting Bobo's body and dumping her in the river.

“I got out of the truck grabbed the upper torso of Ms. Bobo. Zach put the tailgate down. He grabbed her legs and I set her head on the tail gate," testified Autry.

He says that’s when he saw her foot move, and heard her make noises, and realized Bobo was still alive. “I told him this f****** b**** is still alive.”

Autry said Adams then grabbed a gun, and he heard a gunshot. “It sounded like boom, boom, boom, it was one shot but it echoed everywhere.”

After hearing a boat, fearing they would be caught, Autry testified they put Bobo's body back in the truck. On the stand, Autry told jurors he wasn't there when the body was buried.

Autry says later that day, he met back up with Zach and Dillon Adams and Shayne Austin, where a verbal and physical altercation between Zach Adams and Austin occurred.

“Shane told him you didn't have to kill her. He said 'you just as guilty as me ‘cuz you hit it,'” said Autry.

Autry also testified about a conversation he had with Adams after Bobo was killed. Autry says he was told Zach and Dillon Adams, along with Shayne Austin, took Bobo to Autry's grandmother’s barn and raped her.

Autry said in August of 2012, Zach Adams told him the reason he had been to the Bobo house the morning Holly was taken was to see her brother Clint. "He said the real reason he was there was to teach Clint how to cook meth. She started screaming and that's why we took her.”

Autry admitted he lied to police when first questioned about having knowledge Bobo's disappearance, but says he now is testifying, hoping for leniency in the charges he is facing.
