Kidney Action Day In Memphis

MEMPHIS, TN (localmemphis.com)—Memphis city leaders and health officials held Kidney Action Day on Saturday to help cut the rates of Kidney Disease in the Bluff City.

Kidney disease rates in the City of Memphis are above the national average.

Mayor A C Wharton and others stopped by the Kroc Center in Midtown Memphis to bring more awareness to kindey health.

Kidney screenings were offered to let people know if they are at risk for kidney disease.

Tenee Hawkins, of the American Kidney Fund explained, “It's all about letting Memphis residents understand and know their risk for kidney disease…nine out of ten people with early kidney disease don't even know they have it, so it's important to come out here and get checked out”

The American Kidney Fund helped organize the event.

This is the first year Kidney Action Day has been held in Memphis.
