Local Businessman Collects Donations For Harvey Victims

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) - A local businessman has collected so many donations for Hurricane Harvey victims, he needs a tractor trailer to load it all.

Hollywood Evans says more than 300 people have donated items so far, including 1100 cases of water. Local 24 was there as members of the community sorted through and boxed items, which includes food, diapers, and clothing. The items will be loaded onto a 53-foot tractor trailer Friday.

Evans explained why he organized the donation drive. "Why am I doing it? Ah, think about it. If it was you, your own parents, you're your cousins, your kin folk, you would do it to."

A group of volunteers left Thursday for Houston. They will meet the truck in Texas to help unload the items where they are needed most.
