Local Company Impacted By Hurricane Damage In Puerto Rico

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) - After nearly a week of broken communication, a Memphis-based company just found out more than 130 employees in Puerto Rico are physically okay.

 

Comprehensive Pharmacy Services in East Memphis operates several hospital pharmacies on the island. A spokesperson says after some pharmacies were damaged. They were moved to allow continued operations.

 

However, extensive damage to communication infrastructure and roads are making it difficult to move supplies and medicines.

 

"We've had a disaster preparedness plans in place,” says Rod Recor, Chief Strategy Officer. “Facilities are not in dire need of medications today, but they will be over the next several days. So, we're working very diligently with our partners."

 

According to a company spokesperson, hurricanes Harvey and Irma devastated facilities in Texas And Florida, and also prepared them for hurricane Maria.

 

CPS is working to establish a fund to help employees impacted by the hurricane.
