Local Seniors Recognized For Their Neighborhood Watch Program

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) - There was music and dancing Friday to reward seniors for their commitment to the community. The Memphis Police Old Allen Station officers and ambassadors honored the seniors at Lutheran Village in Raleigh for their support and dedication to the community neighborhood watch program.

“They have supported us from day one of neighborhood watch. And when they come over its 20 plus residents and they give us excellent input on what's going on in the neighborhood, what they would like to see done, and what they would they would like to see us continue to do,” says Telise Turner.

Officers provided lunch and gifts to every resident. A resident known as "the teddy bear lady" also received a certificate of recognition. She works with police to send gift baskets to people who are going through some tough times.
