Local Student Gets A Helping Hand, Thanks To A 3D Printer!

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) - An incredible student received the gift of a lifetime Friday, all thanks to the Memphis School of Excellence.

About three months ago, the school bought a 3D printer to print a prosthetic hand for student Dontavious.

School officials say he is an amazing scholar and athlete, and providing him with a hand with further enhance his great abilities.

“It took about 3 months. We measured it, we tried it, this is about the 3rd generation, it actually fits pretty well,” says Muhammad Turkay with the Memphis School of Excellence.

The arm cost less than $60, and if Dontavious outgrows it, the school can just print a new one.
