Local Students Get Visit From Local 24's Katina Rankin With Special Book Reading

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) - Local 24’s Katina Rankin took a trip to Mrs. Griffin's class at Memphis STEM Academy Wednesday.

The first graders listened intently as they learn about different geographical areas and about clouds. Principal April Bobo says having local authors read to students is important in the learning process.

"It increases the passion for reading within our school, within our children,” says Bobo.

Katina read her children's book "Up North, Down South: City Folk Meet Country Folk" to the MSA first graders.

And a big thank you to the Alpha Memphis Education Foundation. After hearing the book, they will donate some copies of it to the school.

The book officially goes into Sam's Clubs Saturday, January 14th.

Katina will kick off the celebration with a book signing at the Sam's on U.S. 64 by Wolfchase Galleria, with a book signing from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
