Lorenzen Wright's Mom Says Police Waited Too Long

- MEMPHIS, TN - A mother's pain, six months in the making. That's how long it's been since Lorenzen Wright's mother first reported him missing. Now, we know it was already too late to save him. He was found in a field 10 days after being murdered. abc24.com sat down with Wright's mother, who is demanding justice.

Lorenzen Wright was Deborah Marion's first born, and she says the pain is unbearable. Even more painful, knowing his killer is still out there.

"Everyday I think of my child," said Marion.

Deborah Marion clings to her grandchild, born the same day her son was buried.

"That's too long, he's six months old," she said of her grandchild. "So you know if it was a human this big, it's been too long. He was born during the memorial, and he's six months, that's entirely too long."

Too long for answers she says, answers about who murdered her son and why it took so long to find his body.

"I don't care what police department got the 911 call, that's too many days," said Marion.

Marion started marking the days on her calendar after her son when missing.

"The 19th was the first day," she said. "I went to them here on the 20th, this was on a Tuesday. They didn't find him until that following Wednesday. Look how many days this is. That's too many days."

She believes each day could have made a difference in the investigation.

"Do you believe those ten days are the reason that no one's in custody," the reporter asked.

"Yes, yes. If they had did it sooner, of course there would've been more evidence, 10 days, there would've been way more evidence, footprints or something," replied Marion.

But she's not giving up, and she says the cops can't either.

"This wasn't no pool hall shooting," said Marion. "Somebody kidnapped him from her house and took him and killed him."

An autopsy revealed two different calibers of bullets were used to kill Lorenzen Wright. So far, no murder weapon has been found.
