Man Sentenced To 25 Years After Guilty Plea In Shooting Death Of Pregnant Teenager

(SHELBY COUNTY D.A. NEWS RELEASE) - March 31, 2017 – A 25-year-old man pled guilty Thursday to second-degree murder in the shooting death last year of a pregnant teenager in southwest Memphis, said Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich.

Criminal Court Judge Bobby Carter accepted the plea and sentenced defendant Terry Turner to 25 years in prison with no parole.

Turner admitted shooting 15-year-old Vianca Harris who was four to five weeks pregnant. The teen died of a shotgun wound to the head.

The incident occurred on March 14 last year in the Valley Forge Apartments near Neely Road and Hillview Avenue.

The case was handled by Asst. Dist. Atty. Leslie Fouche.
