MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) - A shooting outside of a grocery store has left one man in critical condition.
Memphis Police say at about 8:30 this morning a man was shot as he was entering the Springdale Grocery in the 2200 block of Eldridge Avenue. The victim then ran a short distance and collapsed. He was taken to Regional One in critical condition.
Officers on the scene, which is in the Hyde Park neighborhood north of Rhodes College, said a man walked up to them and said he shot the person in self-defense after the victim attempted to rob him.
No charges have been filed at this point as the investigation continues.
