Memphis Man Indicted For Murder In Death Of His Wife And Her Sister

(SHELBY COUNTY D.A. RELEASE) - A Hickory Hill-area man was indicted Thursday on two counts of first-degree murder in the shooting deaths earlier this year of his wife and her sister, Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich said Thursday.

Investigators said defendant George Muhammad, 29, walked into the Crump Station Police precinct and told police of the shootings as patrol officers were just arriving at the crime scene in the early-morning hours of April 13.

Muhammad is being held without bond in the Shelby County Jail.

His wife, 27-year-old Kendall Brown, was found shot to death in the driveway of their home in the 3800 block of Shallow Wood Court near Winchester Road and Hickory Hill Road. She had been shot multiple times.

Her 20-year-old sister, Kayla Brown, was found dead outside a nearby neighbor’s home. She also was shot multiple times.

The case is being handled by Asst. Dist. Atty. Meghan Fowler of the DA’s Domestic Violence Prosecution Unit (DVPU) which handles felony cases of domestic assault and homicide committed by intimate partners.

The Unit also works closely with the Shelby County Family Safety Center to provide services and assistance to victims and their families.
