MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) - An Orange Mound man, who is also running for Shelby County Mayor, was convicted Thursday of drug and weapons charges.
Thorne Peters, 55, was convicted of two counts of felony possession of marijuana and illegal possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He will be sentenced on April 3rd.
Peters was arrested on Feb. 3, 2015. Prosecutors say officers were serving a search warrant, and found a 45-cal. pistol, more than three-quarters of a pound of marijuana, digital scales, glass smoking pipes, and other paraphernalia associated with drug trafficking.
The Shelby County D.A.’s office says Peters, who represented himself, told officers and the jury this week that he is a pot dealer.
