MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) - Memphis police have arrested a man, accused of raping a 16-year-old girl he met through Facebook. Omar Wilkins, 18, is charged with rape and aggravated kidnapping.
The victim told police she met Wilkins on Facebook, and early the morning of January 2, 2017, he picked her up and took her to a home in the 1700 block of Wildrose. The girl told officers that Wilkins sexually assaulted her, after she told him she was not going to have sex with him and pushed him away several times. She told officers Wilkins raped her at least four times, and tried to force her to perform oral sex.
The victim told police Wilkins fell asleep, but she was too frightened to sleep, and about 7:00 a.m., Wilkins’ mother entered the room and asked if he had a girl in his bed. She told investigators he put a cover on her, then left the room, locking the door with her inside.
The victim said she then went on Facebook and messaged a friend that she had been raped and was not able to leave. She gave the friend the address, who contacted police. They responded and took Wilkins into custody.
Police say they found texts between the girl and Wilkins from before the encounter, where the girl told him she would not have sex with him.
Investigators say Wilkins waived his rights, and admitted to having sex with the victim several times.
No bond has been set. Wilkins is due in court January 4th.
