Mid-Southerners Come Out to Ride for Life

MEMPHIS, TN (localmemphis.com) - Taking a bike ride all to raise awareness for a good cause!

Mid-Southerners hit the streets Sunday for the Fifth Annual 'Ride for Life.'

The riders biked for 25 miles and kids completed a one-mile fun ride. The non-competitive event took folks on a scenic bike tour through East Memphis and Midtown.

The goal of the ride was to raise awareness of the need for organ and tissue donation in the Mid-South. One person can save eight people through organ donation.

"We still have 1500 people in our state waiting for that life saving organ and every day 12 of those will die waiting for that life saving organ so what we're trying to do is just come out and raise awareness and answer any questions they may have," says Kim Van Frank, Executive Director of the Mid-South Transplant Foundation.

Sunday's ride benefited the Mid-South Transplant Foundation.
