Mississippi Republicans Look At State Flag

MEMPHIS, Tenn (localmemphis.com) - Will Mississippi Republicans take the lead in changing the state flag?

That's what at least one GOP political strategist would like to see.

The state flag has the Confederate emblem on it.

In 2001 the issue was on the ballot and two-thirds of voters chose to keep the flag as is.

However, Andy Taggart says now is the time to make a change to something all Mississippians can be proud of.

Taggart, who joined Brandon Artiles as a guest on Local 24 This Week believes that history bears out changing the flag is inevitable.

Taggart said, "This flag is going to be changed. It's going to change. The question is, which side of history do you want to be on and I want Mississippi Republicans to be on the right side of history."

You can see Brandon's full discussion on the future of Mississippi's state flag with Taggart this Sunday morning at nine on Local 24 this week
