Protesters Gather At Valero Refinery In Southwest Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) - Twelve protesters were arrested Monday at the Valero Refinery in southwest Memphis. Memphis police responded, and surrounding roads were shut down for several hours during the day. 

The group Arkansas Rising posted to its Facebook page that the "water protectors" are taking action against a pipeline in Arkansas.

Memphis police say 12 people taken into custody. All 12 are charged with disorderly conduct and obstruction of a highway passage. 7 of those, who were attached to drums with cement, also face criminal trespass charges.
