Shelby County Commissioner Terry Roland Goes To Washington

WASHINGTON, D.C. (localmemphis.com) - Shelby County Commissioner Terry Roland is among the thousands at the Freedom Ball Friday night in the Nation's Capitol.

After attending several inauguration receptions yesterday, Roland witnessed the peaceful exchange of power on the mall.

He did tell us. However, he experienced some of the protests around the district.

"All different creeds and colors of people just came together. Now there was some trouble close to where our hotel is near 12th and K and they were breaking out windows there, but other than that it was just a heart-wrenching time."

Roland says security from multiple agencies were present throughout the city providing a strong sense of safety.
