Shooting Near Beale Street Landing Injures One

MEMPHIS, Tenn (localmemphis.com) - A man is recovering after being shot near a popular downtown Memphis attraction.

It happened around 6:30pm on Riverside Drive, between at the edge of Beale Street Landing next to Tom Lee Park.

A witness said he heard nine shots and saw a large crowd scatter at the base of Beale Street Landing. Memphis Police said officers were in the area doing a traffic stop when they overheard the shots. Authorities said there was a fight and one person was shot.

Police closed a large section of Riverside Drive to investigate this shooting, but later reopened all lanes.

The victim was taken to Regional One Hospital in non-critical condition.

There is no word yet on any arrests in this shooting.
