MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) - Memphis Police have released a sketch of the suspect in the murder of an 81-year-old woman, who was killed Sunday while leaving her son’s apartment.
Catherine Wicker was leaving the Sycamore Lakes Apartments on Forest Hill Court about 5:40 p.m. Sunday, when police say a man tried to take her purse.
Police say the suspect and Wicker struggled, and a witness stepped in and was able to get Wicker’s purse away from the robber.
Police say the suspect jumped into a car, and tried to run over the intervening witness, but hit Wicker. Dragging her body under the car and through the parking lot.
She was taken to Regional One, where she died.
The suspect is described as 5’7” to 5’9” tall, 150 to 160 pounds, wearing dark clothing at the time.
