Students & Staff Get Special Surprise For Higher Test Scores

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) - Some local students received new uniform sweaters for amazing improvement on state tests.

Community partners and uniform t-shirt maker Agape North donated sweaters to more than 600 Aspire Coleman Elementary students and teachers in celebration of their higher testing scores on the 2016-17 state tests.

According to the school's principal, the tests showed a high level of growth at a rapid rate in reading and math. He also says that it is important to include the community in celebrating achievements like this.

"It's great. I mean, anytime we can bring in and have different community members come in and celebrate our students, it helps them see that there's a lot of people invested in them and invested in their success,” says Owen Ricciardi.

Aspire Coleman is one of 40 schools that are part of the Aspire Charter School Network.
