Sudden Death Of Young Girl Stuns Family and Friends

MEMPHIS, TENN (localmemphis.com) - Southern Avenue Charter school students are preparing to honor a fellow classmate who died suddenly.

5-year-old N’Kheyma King died last week from leukemia, just three days after learning she had the disease.

Her family says they took King to the hospital for stomach pain and fever.

She was diagnosed with strep throat.

Hours later, she was back in the hospital where doctors determined she had leukemia.

They performed surgery for swelling on her brain, but King never woke up and she died a few days later.

The school will hold a vigil Friday afternoon from 2-3.

School representatives say the family had no insurance.

If you would like to help King’s family pay for funeral expenses, there is a Go Fund Me page.
