One Dead In Officer-Involved Shooting In Crockett County

CROCKETT CO., Tenn. (localmemphis.com) - A Louisiana man is dead after an officer-involved shooting in Crockett County Tennessee.

The Tennessee Bureau of investigation what led up to the shooting of Rodney Hess near Alamo.

According to a TBI spokesman, Hess was found with his car parked in the wrong direction of an access ramp of Highway 412 around 2:15 This afternoon.

Investigators said when Crockett County Sheriff's approached the SUV Hess his speech was incoherent.

Deputies called for backup when they say used his SUV as a weapon and tried to run over the officers.

TBI investigators say that's when one of the deputies shot Hess through his front windshield.

Hess then drove the vehicle across the bridge to the other side of Highway 412 and crashed into a ditch.

Hess was airlifted to Regional 1 in Memphis where he later died.

No officers were injured in the incident.

The TBI will continue their investigation into the night.
