Two-Alarm Fire At Memphis Real Value Inn

MEMPHIS,TENN (localmemphis.com) - I spoke with a woman who was on the 1st floor and rushed to the 3rd floor to get her two kids when they smelled smoke.

Thick smoke from the top of the Real Value Inn is what Memphis Firefighters say they saw when the arrived on the scene.

Investigators say the two-alarm fire started in a room on the second floor of the four stories extended stay hotel.

A Memphis Fire spokesman said there were about 45 guests at the hotel when the fire broke out...all made it to safety.

One person went to the hospital for smoke inhalation.
Some hotel guests are sheltered in place on the hotels 1st floor.

And the hotel could reopen if deemed safe for occupancy.

Meantime, the 360 Sports Bar and Grill right in front of the hotel is still open for business.
But Lamar and Getwell has been shut down for more than an hour.

The hotel's website says there are no kitchens in the rooms, but there are microwaves and refrigerators.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
