MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) - Memphis police continue to search for peeping tom seen peeking into a teenage girl’s bedroom. The girl’s mother says the prowler was caught on camera at their Grahamwood neighborhood home. Investigators say the same suspect burglarized the woman's home.
The victim, who does not want to be identified, says she started to feel targeted when the man kept repeatedly creeping around her home. She decided to move from the neighborhood to keep her family safe.
For roughly two months, the woman says on various occasions, the same man was seen prowling around her home on Isabelle.
"Beginning of March someone rang my doorbell around 4:50 in the morning and I called police because I saw somebody run in front of my tree and then to my backyard.”
She says the incidents started happening frequently, and her teenage daughter caught the prowler looking into her bedroom window as she was getting dressed.
"She screamed and she ran out of her room in a panic saying somebody is looking in her window… And had been there for stretches of time, hours. In one instance, he had been there for over an hour.”
Memphis police say the suspect a thin black man with a full beard and glasses. He has tattoos on his left hand and wrist. Police say the same suspect broke into the home on Isabelle last month and burglarized it.
"Because I had anticipated that maybe he will break in, we had taken a lot of the valuables from the home, so essentially, he took a lot of grocery items, a drill, just random things out of a laundry basket.”
The family has moved from the home. The woman says her first priority was her daughter's safety.
"Also, I have a daughter who is very afraid to stay alone, and I really believe that if you don't feel safe anywhere else in the world, it should be your home.”
Anyone with information that could help identify the suspect is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (901) 528-CASH.
