WANTED: Police Searching For Smash & Grab Crooks Who Hit Hernando Walmart

HERNANDO, Miss. (localmemphis.com) - Hernando, Mississippi police are searching for the crooks who used hammers to smash the electronics case at a Walmart.

Hernando police say the crime happened about 1:40 a.m. Monday. The Hernando Walmart is open 24/7, so there were customers inside at the time.

Hernando detectives say two suspects came into the store, grabbed a shopping cart, then grabbed hammers from the hardware department. Police say the duo used the hammers to smash in the electronics case, where they took at least six gaming systems.

Police say the suspects ditched the cart and took off to the back door of the store. On the way out, one of the suspects grabbed a 55-inch flat screen TV.

Police say they ran out the emergency fire exit to a car that was waiting in the back to pick them up.

Hernando police believe at least three people were in on the burglary. No one was hurt.

Anyone with information is asked to call Hernando Police or DeSoto County Crime Stoppers at 662-429-TIPS.
