Woman Dies After Being Struck By Car In Midtown Memphis

MEMPHIS, TENN (localmemphis.com) -

Memphis police have identified a woman who was struck by a car in midtown Memphis. Kelcie Ashmore, 22, died from her injuries.

It happened about  9:40 p.m. Thursday at the corner of Poplar and Tucker, just south of Overton Park, and west of East Parkway.

Ashmore was taken to Regional One in critical condition, but she later died from her injuries.

Police say the 50-year-old driver was issued a misdemeanor citation for failure to exercise due care.

On twitter, the Memphis College of Art identified Ashmore as a student. They said, “We are in touch with Kelcie Ashmore's family, and words cannot describe our sorrow over their loss. The heart of our community breaks.
