Accident at Kilgore Flares Plant Injures One

An investigation is underway into an accident at the Kilgore plant in Toone, Tennessee that injured a worker.
TOONE, TN (abc24.com) - An investigation is underway into an accident at the Kilgore plant in Toone, Tennessee that injured a worker.

The accident happened during a test Tuesday.

The plant has a history of accidents in the last few years. Most recently, an explosion in September 2010 killed one worker and severely burned two others.

Kilgore makes flares for the United States military.

According to Kilgore's president, Larry D'Andrea, "We were starting a new process, and during that process there was an incident that had an ignition and one of our supervisors that was there during the test procedure received some burns, second degree burns, and he was treated right away. I spoke to him in the morning first thing and he was doing well. He was treated and he's back to work."

D'Andrea expects the investigation into what cause the accident to be concluded soon.
