MEMPHIS, TN -- The accused WalMart shoplifter shot by an MPD officer has died.

The shooting happened at the WalMart on Austin Peay Wednesday, March, 27th.

Investigators say an off-duty Memphis police officer was working security when she saw 42 year old George Golden shoplifting.

The officer followed Golden out of the store and flagged down two other officers. All three officers and Golden got into a struggle.

Cops say Golden reached inside his waistband as if he was grabbing a gun, then made a sudden move spinning towards officers. That's when one officer fired.
