Another Search Conducted of Murder Victim Karen Swift's Home

Dyer County Sheriff's investigators searched Swift's home Wednesday, but aren't saying what they found.
DYERSBURG, TN (localmemphis.com) - A new search, but still no justice for Karen Swift and her family.

Dyer County Sheriff's investigators searched Swift's home Wednesday, but aren't saying what they found.

It's the latest step in the long investigation to find whoever killed the 44-year-old Dyersburg mother a year and a half ago. People in Dyersburg are worried the killer will never be found.

"I think they've just kind of given up on it," says resident Brian Fair.

Just about everybody in Dyer County knows of Karen Swift.

"Who did it? Nobody knows," says Terry Redmond.

"We need to have an answer. Need to get settled," says Henry Farrar.

They're done trying to guess when that day will come.

On July 3, sheriff investigators once again searched Swift's former home where her husband David Swift still lives.

"Maybe they'll find something," says Wanda Farrar. "Time marches on, but slow," adds Henry.

The couple was about to divorce when Karen was murdered. Few details are known about the investigation or her death. The autopsy report is sealed under court order

"I think the sheriff can do better than what he's doing," Fair says.

"They're still investigating. That's good," Wanda says.

"I think he's working on it," says Fair. "But not like they should. I think he could do a better job."

Swift disappeared in late October 2011. Her body was found 6 weeks later in mid- December.

In September 2012, Sheriff Jeff Box promised they'd developed a person of interest.

Last November he told Local 24 News the case was coming to a close. Now it's July.

"The way I look at it they don't know and probably never will," says Redmond.

Sheriff Box was not available to talk Thursday.
