Arkansas State Police Investigating Officer Involved Shooting In West Memphis

Special Agents of the Arkansas State Police are investigating an officer involved shooting incident that occurred outside a West Memphis business Thursday night.

MEMPHIS, TN (localmemphis.com) - Special Agents of the Arkansas State Police are investigating an officer involved shooting incident that occurred outside a West Memphis business Thursday night.

Nathaniel Lee Warren, 41, of West Memphis, was wounded in the shooting incident and remains in critical condition at a Memphis Hospital.

Officials said at 7:49 PM, West Memphis Police Officers responded to a call reporting a disturbance outside Walker Street Grocery, located at 315 Walker Street.

Based on initial statements from officers, upon their arrival outside the store, they witnessed Warren involved in an altercation with another individual.

Warren was reportedly armed with a firearm which he allegedly pointed at the police officers.

Based on initial witness statements, Warren failed to comply with orders to drop the weapon and was shot by police.

An investigation by State Police is continuing today and a case file will be presented to the Crittenden County Prosecuting Attorney to consider the West Memphis officers use of force.
