Wehillusa - You are truly a piece of work. YOU are the reason that little dogs like this actually starve and are so cruelly treated. YOU probably would walk past a starving dog like this and figure "someone else will handle this. I am worried about all the starving CHILDREN." The starving children can cry and ASK for help. The starving dogs and kittens have no voice. WE are their voice and their protectors. It is our duty.

@ 'wehill'; Dogs are MAN'S (mankind's) best friend. What exactly, have YOU done for these people?!

People can help themselves. Dogs can't. It's called getting off your lazy ass and working. Stop blaming Whitey for your self-inflicted problems.

Talking about people living in shotgun shacks , a lot of people would give anything to have a roof over their head of any kind in this depression that the Obamanist regime has created. I know people who are living under bridges ,because they can't find a job . I know one guy had to move from Memphis and live with his relatives because what little construction work there is the Mexicans have taken it over for dirt cheap prices and shoddy work . A whole bunch of people are in the same shape as the dog because of these communist in the white house .

You gotta be kidding come to Clarksdale ms and they are every where dozens and dozens of dogs just like the one in Tunica ,running around with a rope tied to their neck or a chain on the loose starving to death .This is normal for Clarksdale and a lot of other towns and cities people grab them up and keep them for a little while and send them on their way. I hate to see this with animals ,but a lot of people are in the same shape as the dog with this communist regime at the white house destroying jobs people don't have a chance .

Have you ever been to Tunica and seen the "shotgun" shacks there? It is likely that Joey was an unwanted puppy of a dog the owners couldn't afford to spay. If the owners are charged with animal cruelty, they won't be able to pay the fine because they probably can't afford to pay their utility bill. It is tragic to see the poverty right outside the Mississippi casinos, and also in the city of Memphis. People and animals both suffer when there is poverty. Yes, I am horrified at people letting animals starve or suffer in any way. Worse is realizing that there are many people brought by poverty to the level of animals.

the Tunica Sheriff should be relentless in investigating this horrible example of animal cruelty. The whole neighborhood should be fined to cover the cost of Joey's care. What kind of disgusting human beings would let this happen? So glad Joey finally has people caring!

Great job on this story! Thank you for spotlighting this problem and the tremendous work of the Tunica Humane Society and their incredible volunteers. Joey is truly a poster dog for animal cruelty. What a special pup!
